Nourishing Bone Broth
the bones a good 'smush' with the end of a rolling pin to break up
the bones & joints to release the goodness.
There is your fresh homemade, packed with goodness Golden Bone Broth. You can easily pick out the whole vegetables and add them to the broth. You can simmer again for up to an hour if you would like a more intense both this will reduce the mixture down into a thick jelly or gravy if you wish.
Store in ice cube trays and freeze and use when needed. If you wish to use non poultry bones, it's best to roast the bones for 45 minutes before adding to the cooking pan, this softens the all important marrow allowing you to when the bones are cool enough poke out the marrow and add to the cooking pan along with the bones, then follow the rest of the steps. Not using a poultry carcass will not actually make a Nourishing Bone Broth it will make more of a 'marrow Stock' which is still fabulous but won't have quite the same benefits as a poultry carcass as the poultry joints are full of Gelatine and Glucosamine, the tiny bones full of marrow.
I've been cooking this for many many years.
The main use in my house for using Bone Broth is actually in my Home Made Dry Dog food, its usually at the base of most of my recipes. it can be added to home cooked dog food, fed as a clear soup, used straight from the ice cube for a nice healthy cold treat on a baking hot summers day.
I also use Bone Broth in my recipe for 'Breaking your dogs Fast', making a fresh Kefir, Bone Broth & Oat Bircher Muesli featured in my free Book 'My Top 10 Essential Tips To Live By'.
For releasing the wonderful happy glucosamine & collagen.
2 organic chicken carcasses
4 celery sticks
½ fennel bulb
1 large bunch of parsley storks
Supercharge Your Broth:
I like to add this combination of ingredients below to the already cooked and strained Golden Bone Broth. Just pop the ingredients into the already strained Bone Broth and cook for 45 minutes and you have a delicious power packed filling and satisfying soup.
The Queeniechi Gang LOVE this... all 18 noses in the air sniffing in anticipation as to what fabulousness is to come! The Queeniechi Gang are part of the "MEAT FREE MONDAY CLUB" this can easily be made with a good home made vegetable broth (yes, there will be a recipe) and your dogs will enjoy it just as much! I top this with a little home made soft goats cheese but cottage cheese would be wonderful too and a little grated uncooked, skin on beetroot..... delicious.
Although this broth is super tasty it is actually doing you and your dog some good too:
